Tom Roes, MSW, RSW (he/him), is one of our valued Associate Clinicians. As a registered social worker and psychotherapist in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW, reg. #836210), Tom brings warmth, expertise, and dedication to his practice.
Based in the charming town of Stratford, ON, Tom offers in-person therapy sessions, creating a welcoming and safe space for clients to explore their concerns and work toward meaningful change. With his compassionate approach and deep understanding of individual and relational dynamics, Tom is committed to supporting his clients on their journey to greater well-being and resilience.
2025 Fee Structure: $160 per hour for individual therapy, including sessions for children and youth, and $190 per hour for couples and family therapy.
Professional Experience:
Tom has dedicated 15 years to the child welfare system, where he gained invaluable experience supporting children, youth, and adults of all genders and orientations. His deep passion lies in helping those impacted by adoption, including adoptees, adoptive parents, and birth and kinship families. With a nuanced understanding of the complexities of adoption, Tom provides a compassionate space to navigate the unique challenges and joys this journey entails.
In addition to his adoption-focused work, Tom brings a wealth of expertise in couples and family therapy. He excels at guiding individuals and their loved ones through the intricate dynamics of relationships, fostering open communication, connection, and resilience. Whether addressing conflict, rebuilding trust, or enhancing relational bonds, Tom’s approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and evidence-based practices.
Tom’s versatility as a therapist also extends to a range of other challenges, including identity exploration, anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, loss, trauma, and life transitions. His holistic and inclusive perspective ensures clients feel seen, heard, and supported as they work toward personal growth and healing.
Education & Training:
Tom holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Western University, which serves as the foundation of his expertise as a compassionate and skilled clinician. His commitment to professional growth is evident in his extensive post-graduate training, equipping him with a diverse range of therapeutic approaches to meet the unique needs of his clients.
He has specialized training in Narrative Therapy, which emphasizes the power of storytelling in understanding and reshaping personal narratives, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a widely recognized approach for addressing patterns of thought and behavior. Tom is also trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindfulness-based modality that helps clients embrace their emotions and commit to meaningful actions.
In addition, Tom has completed ACT: An Adoption and Permanency Curriculum for Child Welfare and Mental Health Professionals, offered by the Adoption Council of Ontario. This specialized training reflects his passion for working with adoption-related issues and supporting individuals and families navigating this complex journey.
Tom has also pursued training focused on couples and family therapy, allowing him to skillfully address relational dynamics and foster healthy connections. His education and training provide a strong foundation for his work with individuals, couples, and families, ensuring a compassionate and evidence-based approach to therapy.

Tom maintains an active professional membership with the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) and Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW).
Clinical Supervision:
Tom is currently receiving an ongoing external supervision and participates in peer group consultations for professional development.
