Julian Lue, MSW, RSW (he/him), is one of our Associate Clinicians, a registered social worker, and psychotherapist in good standing with the OCSWSSW (reg# 850492). Specializing in working with trans and gender diverse individuals of all ages, Julian also supports their caregivers and families. Additionally, he works with individuals experiencing social anxiety and post-secondary students.
2024 Fee Schedule: $160 per hour for individual therapy.
COI Notice: If you are currently attending or have attended the Adolescent Health Clinic at CHEO as a youth or caregiver since August 2023, Julian is unable to provide services due to his ongoing professional responsibilities at CHEO.
Specialization & Clinical Focus:
- Anxiety treatment and other related mental health challenges using cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).
- Gender identity and challenges associated with transitioning, including hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and gender-affirming surgeries.
- Parents struggling to support their child with gender identity exploration or questioning.
- Young adults or post-secondary students struggling to cope with life transition issues, peer or collegial relationships, and other mental health challenges.
Professional Experience:
Julian has worked at a local hospital in outpatient mental health, as well as in a post-secondary context, supporting students struggling with mental health and academic challenges. Please note that if your family or child is currently receiving services at the gender diversity clinic at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), Julian cannot provide counseling or psychotherapy due to his ongoing professional obligations.
Education & Training:
Julian earned his Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Carleton University, tailoring his studies to direct intervention and clinical social work practice. Additionally, he holds an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from McMaster University.
He received post-graduate training in cognitive-behavioral therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University and underwent narrative therapy training after obtaining his MSW. Julian continues to actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance his knowledge and skills as a clinician.

Julian maintains an active professional membership with the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) and Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW).
Clinical Supervision:
Julian is currently receiving an ongoing clinical supervision from Bruno Jung-Millen, MSW, RSW (OCSWSSW, reg# 837354) and participates in peer group consultations for professional development.
